Reebok at a glance.

Reebok’s founders came from a family with a long history of manufacturing athletic shoes. Joe and Jeff Foster founded Reebok in 1958. The brothers were grandsons of the popular Joseph William Foster who founded J.W. Foster in 1900. Grandpa Foster designed some of the earliest known running spikes, which pioneered the track spikes that we have now.

Reebok USA started distributing the brand’s products in the late 70s, signaling the upcoming rise of Reebok for the next few years.

Reebok didn’t stop progressing and released the Reebok Freestyle in 1982, an aerobic shoe that became the first athletic footwear designed specifically for women.

Another popular Reebok tech in the late 80s was the Reebok Pump. It features an internal inflating mechanism that locks the ankle collar and provides a better fit and padding. Shaquille O’Neal’s signature sneakers with Reebok were some of the most popular models to feature Pump.

Reebok signed NBA superstar Allen Iverson and gave him his own signature sneaker series called Reebok Question and Reebok Answer, these were so iconic that Reebok continues to sell these sneakers in the present day.

Adidas eventually acquired Reebok in 2005, taking over the deals and sponsorships of the latter such as the NBA uniforms, WNBA merchandise, and more.

A few decades later, Reebok is still going strong with their vintage sneakers like the Club C, Reebok Instapump, and other popular sneakers.

A few collabs with Adidas brought the two sportswear brands’ designs in full display.
